Happiest Girl

Where have three months gone? Ok, more like 3 and 1/2... I am a little slow. I really can't believe how fast time flies.  I also apparently have mush-for-brains because I thought it would be so cute to take a picture of Morgan every month in her lace romper that is supposed to stretch until 12 months (we shall see...) and then I totally spaced it the very first month...

This child is a cheeser. She cracks me up because she can go from giant cheesy grin to pouty and sad in about 0.2. We may have a little bit of a dramatic girl on our hands... luckily any sad is overlooked by all her silly grins. And because I am an overly-enthusiastic parent, you get to enjoy not one, but two, photo collages of the happy girl. Poor, overexposed child.

In other happenings...

We had lunch with a great friend and Morgan met a new best friend!

We took Morgan on her first hike (that was about 2 miles too long...)! She loved riding in her pack with daddy and Bell Canyon was a pretty hike. I would just recommend stopping at the reservoir if you are hiking with an infant (or if you are hiking with me... Morgan and I have about the same attention span for hikes).

We celebrated Independence Day just as the founding fathers intended, I am sure, with patriotic clothing including tiny red toenails, family time, and way too much food.

Summer is being good to us.

A Room for Morgan

My friend and neighbor, Linnea, came over a month or so ago to do a lifestyle shoot for her photography portfolio. She did a great job and got some really cute shots of Miss Morgan and her nursery.

I stole most of my ideas for Morgan's nursery from the internet, including the ceiling stripes, embroidery hoop art, and "You Are My Sunshine" prints. My mom helped (or I should say, I lounged around in my pregnant-high-blood-pressure-glory while my mom did all the work) paint the grey walls and yellow stripes on the ceiling over Christmas break.  We refinished an old dresser to a nice shade of pink. The tiny rocking chair was handmade for me by my grandpa when I was a little girl. I LOVE the way it all came together.

And of course, my personal favorite part of the nursery, this cute little bug.

The Past 9 Months (or so...)

I have all kinds of excuses for my extended blog absence (being pregnant, being scared to post about being pregnant in fear of something going wrong, starting a graduate program, being lazy, etc. etc.) BUT rather than try to explain myself, I will just move forward. Plus, pictures of this new little one are much better than any words I have.

We welcomed little miss Morgan one week past her due date. She made up for her late arrival by having a very quick and easy delivery. We were scheduled to be induced on the 23rd, but rather than be told what to do, my water broke about 15 minutes before they called me to come over for my induction.

Coming home from the hospital... of course her first venture into the world had to include some Minnie Mouse ears...

She has been such a great baby. Very relaxed, always bright-eyed, and really doesn't complain too much about her inexperienced parents. I pretty much just sit and stare at her all day long.

Haven't seen enough?? Check out a preview of Morgan's newborn photo shoot here. I may be a tad biased, but they are basically the cutest thing I have ever seen.

The Good Life

Oh, how I love Summer. Lately the Good Life for me has included...

Late Night Sushi with the Husband (when I say "late night" I mean after 9 pm. That is late for us. We also saw a movie after 6 pm the other night... which just might be a first since we have been married...)

Festive Cookie decorating (and dough eating, frosting knife licking...)

And a good book by the Pool (Bossypants by Tina Fey, but I gotta say, probably not the best pool book if you are at a crowded pool... my constant giggling to myself may have come across as a little crazy)

It is good to be me.

A Little Trip to Zion

Last weekend we took a little trip to Zion with my family. I had never been to Zion and my mom got a great deal on some AWESOME cabin homes in East Zion, so we braved the heat and headed down to Southern Utah.

We got up early and did a couple of the more strenuous hikes like Hidden Canyon and Angels Landing. We went out in the evening and did Canyon Overlook and the Riverside Walk. Every hike we did was beautiful and I am always amazed by the great scenery that we live so close to. It was a quick, but much enjoyed getaway!

Hiking Shoes!!

Planking... the extreme sport (?) of the trip...

Canyon Overlook... and Craig's awesome Ghostbusters shirt! Craig is lucky enough to have two personal shoppers (my cousins) that LOVE to pick out the best shirts for him.

The view from the not top of Angels Landing (also known as the highest I dared hike... the chain part of that hike is not for me.)

Walter's Wiggles!!

OH... and a Mickey Mouse Cactus!!
